Assists new and existing customers/members with solutions that best meet the customer/member's needs. Meets and/or exceed sales and service performance expectations.


Opens customer accounts by recording account information.

Maintains customer records by updating account information.

Resolves product or service problems by clarifying the customer's complaint; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution.

Maintains financial accounts by processing customer adjustments.

Prepares product or service reports by collecting and analyzing customer information.

Recommends potential products or services to management by collecting customer information and analyzing customer needs.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales.

Submits orders by referring to price lists and product literature.

Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.

Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluation results and competitive developments.

Provides timely quotes.

Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to management.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Provides historical records by maintain records on area and customer sales.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Maintains compliance to all relevant OSHA, and departmental safety standards as directed by Valley Telephone Cooperative.


High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Good verbal communication skills.

Professional written skills.

Computer skills. Must be proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages.

Ability to deal with problems.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) to provide quality service to customers.

Must be able to work 10:00am-7:00pm or as needed.

Must be able to work with others, around others and alone.

Must be responsible, tactful, have/maintain good sense of humor.

Must have a pleasant personality, well groomed and impressionable with visitors/customers.

Must have good telephone etiquette.

Must be able to pay close attention to numerous details.

Must learn terminology and functions of rural telephone cooperative.
